A desk by the window

huqeselus — the particular calm of a window-side desk with the world moving outside

I'll trade almost any amenity for a desk that faces a window. Not for the view exactly — for the soft permission to look up. The eyes need somewhere far to rest every few minutes, and a wall doesn't give them that.

The best ones face a street with slow movement: a market, a tram stop, people who are clearly not in a hurry. It resets something. A desk against a blank wall makes the afternoon feel twice as long.
